Consider this: Would you like someone to show up at your home unannounced? We recommend calling at least 3 hours ahead to ensure a personalized and peaceful service. We value dedicating time to each client as we aim to provide an excellent experience, not just see them as an appointment.
What is the latest I can book an appointment?
You can book up to 3 hours before the desired appointment time, but ideally, 24 hours in advance is best.

Are our services at BHC expensive?
What do we mean by expensive? If you eat at a fast-food restaurant, you'll be filled with sugars and saturated fats, but a healthy restaurant will offer nutritious food. In San Diego, some masseuses charge $40 for a full-body 60-minute massage, while our experienced professionals charge between $80 to $250. Our services include foot, face, and abdominal massages using high-quality oils, not cheap chemical-filled alternatives. We provide clean white sheets for each client and customize the oils and lotions used during your session. We also offer an initial evaluation for new clients and send medical notes to your insurance and doctor for certain types of massages like neuromuscular therapy. So, after considering all this, do our prices still seem expensive to you?
What is a neuromuscular massage therapist?
Neuromuscular massage therapists go beyond relaxation therapies. They are skilled in assessing and treating injuries, suggesting corrective exercises, and providing rehabilitation and injury prevention as part of sports, health, and fitness care. We are bodywork professionals!
What hygiene and safety protocols do you follow during massages?
Our hygiene practices include mandatory masks for therapists, short nails, no jewelry, tied-up hair, disinfected tables, and freshly laundered linens. We maintain a clean environment by sanitizing surfaces between each client to prevent the spread of germs.
Does BHC accept medical plans?
Yes, we can proudly say that there are very few massage therapists who accept medical plans because they are not licensed, work illegally, or under a false name. This lets you know that we are certified, we know what we are doing.

How should I prepare for my first massage session?
The massage with your therapist is often over far too quickly. However, even if one massage won’t heal all your ills, preparing yourself in advance can maximize your experience and all its benefits. Here are some tips for your next massage.
STAY HYDRATED
Being well-hydrated BEFORE your massage is very important for the elimination of toxins that are released into the body’s circulation during treatment. Drinking water or herbal teas are excellent methods for staying hydrated. Avoid regular tea, coffee, alcohol, or any other stimulants.
EAT LIGHTLY
Although it may not bother your therapist, it can be awkward if your stomach is noisy due to digestion. It’s preferable to eat at least one hour in advance of your massage or, if you’re afraid you’ll get hungry, eat a fruit or other food that’s easy to digest.
TAKE A HOT SHOWER
A massage is a hands-on treatment during which your therapist massages your muscles as well as your skin. Therefore, there’s nothing better than feeling clean before treating yourself to a massage. Yes, you’ll have to take another shower afterward to remove the excess oil or gel, but hot water on your body will also help relax your muscles.
DRESS COMFORTABLY
Since an oil massage is applied to the skin, you might think that the clothes you wear aren’t important. However, wearing comfortable clothes will not only put you in a relaxed state before your massage but will also keep you relaxed afterward. Shoes are no exception to this rule. Avoid high heels as they may cause your leg muscles to contract unnecessarily.
ARRIVE IN ADVANCE
Arriving 5 to 10 minutes before your massage will allow you to fill out a health questionnaire without infringing on your massage. You’ll also be able to take a moment to go to the restroom or have a glass of water if need be. If you arrive at the last minute, short of breath with your heart beating wildly, you’ll have a harder time relaxing during your massage.
COMMUNICATE YOUR NEEDS
Once you are settled in for your treatment, your Certified Massage Therapist will review your health questionnaire with you and will ask you further questions if need be. This is the moment to tell your therapist everything: your preferences, needs, expectations, and so on. Please let your therapist know if you want them to pay special attention to one part of your body or to avoid a specific area. Let them know how much pressure you enjoy. Let them know what you don’t enjoy. The more you communicate your needs, the better your therapist will be able to respond to them.
What will my massage section be like?
We assume that you will have already completed the specific health intake form for massages before arriving. This helps us better prepare to provide you with a session tailored to your needs.
During your treatment, concentrate on your breathing, making sure to take long, deep breaths. This will help to reduce stress and chase away negative thoughts. Almost no effort is needed from you. Your therapist will know very well how to lift your arm or your head; your help is not required!
Even when the massage is underway, let your therapist know your preferences or if you feel uncomfortable. By leaving nothing to chance, you’ll get the maximum benefits from your massage. Too hot, too cold; more or less pressure; bright or low lighting; loud or low music; Lotion or oil; with or without essential oils… It’s your massage – you decide.
At your first appointment with us, we will ask you to fill out a massage health intake form. Please arrive 5–10 minutes before your appointment to complete the form. We ask that you list any health conditions, injuries, medications, and preferences. Please be detailed and honest as we strive to provide you with a proper and personalized session. We will ask you about your goals for the session. This is also a good time to ask any questions you may have.
* If we already have your form on file, please update us if the information changes.
- If you are pregnant, we ask that you complete an additional pregnancy-specific form.
After discussing your goals, your therapist will leave the room, and you will strip to your comfort level. Traditionally, clients would fully undress, however you should undress to your comfort level. You will be properly covered at all times. Discuss options with your therapist for any area you want to work on, but would like to remain clothed. Please contact us about the pressure we are applying. We can tell if we're applying light to firm pressure, but we can't translate that into how you feel, so if you want more or less pressure, please let us know. We ask that you also tell us preferences such as the temperature of the bed, the music, the position of the supports or if you like to chat during your session. When your session is over and your therapist has left the room, take your time getting up from the table.
When I finish the section, what should I do?
Your therapist can make recommendations as to when might be a good time to schedule another massage session. This will depend on several factors, such as if you have pain or other discomforts that have been found at your appointment. Your therapist will recommend some things to do after the massage to make it more effective; It will also give you follow-up, food recommendations, water consumption, posture, and some exercises that you can do at home to alleviate the discomfort if you still feel it.
Ask if you can apply ice or hot compresses, do not forget also to evaluate your consultation and in your next session discuss if it is necessary to adjust the pressure or other details, the therapist will take care of these comments.
Do you accept walk-ins without an appointment?
Yes, we do, but we always encourage appointments so your wait time is minimal.
CAN I REQUEST A FEMALE OR MALE MASSAGE THERAPIST?
Yes you can, but please request it prior to your appointment to ensure that your preference is reserved.
CAN I GET THE $50 reflexology MASSAGE AND HAVE ALL THE WORK DONE ON THE BACK?
The $50 Foot Reflexology is a reflexology massage with more focus on the feet and low legs. If you want more work done on the back, we recommend the Swedish massage
